New in 2022- PONY 14U World Series Host Tournament Site
Mt Lebanon is now the site for the PONY 14U WS Host Area Tournament. This is the final tournament to determine the team that will represent this area in the PONY World Series in Washington, PA. Our Lebo Prime 14U team receives an automatic bid into this tournament each year.
Sports Connect Registration Service Fee
Sports Connect (formerly Blue Sombrero), now charges a $3 Service Fee per registration transaction. Register for as many available programs in one transaction to limit this fee.
HOW DOES THE SERVICE FEE WORK? (from Sports Connect's website)
The $3 service fee per transaction is new following the recent acquisition by Stack Sports. It is common across the industry for service providers to charge fees. The benefit of the Sports Connect pricing model is that it is $3 fee per transaction, as opposed to a $3 per player per activity fee (which is generally what is charged by other providers). This means parents who are signing up multiple children will only need to pay the service fee once upon checkout. Please note that with automatic recurring billing plans the service fee will be charged per transaction.

Lebo Baseball Fundraising Fee
Every season the Mt Lebanon Baseball Association holds a Pirates Hyundai Club Ticket Raffle as our main fundraiser. In an effort to maximize fundraiser participation, there is a $35 fundraising fee added to every account at registration for the Lebo Baseball Spring Season. Each player will receive 10 Pirates Raffle Tickets to be sold at $5 per ticket. Parents/players may keep the $ from the raffle ticket sale (up to $50) which will offset the fundraiser fee and, potentially (if all 10 tickets are sold), lower the Spring Season registration fee by $15. Alternatively, parents/players can submit tickets in their name for a chance to win.
Example:
- Major(12U) Division Registration fee is $190 + $35 Fundraiser Fee = $225 total due at registration.
- $225 total due at registration - $50 (10 Pirates Raffle tickets sold) = $175 Major(12U) Division registration fee.
- You save $15 off registration fee by selling 10 Pirates Raffle fundraiser tickets!
Spring Season Timeline
The Spring Season runs thru the end of June, with divisional playoffs or tournaments the last week of June (10U and older divisions), and the All-Star event on July 4th.
PONY League Age-Cutoff Change
*For 2023 Season, PONY Baseball has returned to the April 30th birthday cut-off for player eligibility.
PONY Baseball has changed the birthday cut-off used to determine player eligibility from April 30th to August 31st. This rule change went into effect January 1, 2018. The impetus for this change was to make programs younger, allowing all players to compete on a level playing field. This change ensures all PONY participants will play in their true age group.
Since MLBA is currently only a PONY Baseball affiliate at the PONY division (ages 13-14), starting in 2018, the MLBA Board decided to restructure our divisions based on age eligibility and “grandfather-in” this new August 31st age-cutoff change.
MLBA will continue to incorporate the PONY age cutoff guidelines into our divisions while allowing parents/players more flexibility/choice to "play up" or "play down" a division where appropriate (based on grade or skill level).
* Please see our Spring Division Descriptions prior to registering to help determine the most appropriate division for your player based on age, grade and skill-level.
* MLBA recommends that if you have already played two (2) years in a division (e.g., Major) then register for the next older division (e.g., Pony).
All Lebo Prime Travel Baseball age groups will use the April 30th date (PONY World Series-eligible teams will use the 8/31 cutoff) to determine age eligibility.
The MLBA Board believes that realigning our divisions by age with a two-year “and under” structure provides the best opportunity moving forward to promote development of our players while maintaining a competitive game environment, where appropriate. This approach also allows us to minimize any effects on player eligibility due to the age-cutoff change and corresponding move away from grade-based divisions while maximizing player participation.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding these changes, please contact MLBA President, Ian Smith, at [email protected] or call at 412-392-7374.
USA Baseball Youth Bat Standard
As of 2019, Lebo Baseball has fully adopted the USA Baseball Youth Bat Standard for all Spring Season Divisions.
Mt Lebanon Baseball Association decided to wait until the 2019 season to fully implement the new USA Baseball bat standard (USABat).
This means for the 2019 Spring season and beyond, only bats that are USABat certified will be legal for use. USABat certified bats can have a barrel diameter of 2 1/4” or 2 5/8” and must have the USA Baseball stamp or sticker.
Please contact the MLBA with any questions.
* Travel teams will need to determine what bats are legal for leagues or tournaments.
Statement from PONY Baseball:
In conjunction with USA Baseball and its other participating national member organizations, PONY Baseball has adopted the new USA Baseball bat standard (USABat). Effective January 1, 2018, with the exception of -3 (BBCOR certified), all other 2 1/4" and 2 5/8" barrel bats with a minus factor of (-5, -7, -9, etc.), must be USABat certified with the USABat licensing stamp on the bat in order to be used for league and tournament play. All 2 1/4" and 2 5/8" minus factor bats -5, -7, -9, etc. used in 2017 will be illegal to use in 2018.
