MINOR DIVISION (10U)
Ages 10 or younger by August 31st of the current year OR currently enrolled in 3rd/4th Grade
* MLBA recommends that if a player has played two (2) years in a division then register for the next older division.
Purpose
The Minor division is an important step in your player's understanding of baseball and the development of his or her skills. In this division, the players begin playing traditional baseball, with live pitching, base stealing, bunting, and corresponding offensive and defensive strategies.
Format
- Minor division is the start of player pitching with limited stealing and bunting allowed.
- Teams are comprised of players from a "District" (2 to 3 different elementary schools).
- End-of-season playoffs for all teams and All-Star teams (Note: All-Star team selection gives preference to older/second-year division players).
- Player evaluations are required and used during a player draft to form equitable teams.
Equipment / Uniform
- Each player receives a jersey and hat. Baseball pants and rubber/molded plastic cleats are recommended.
- Players should have their own baseball glove.
- Batting helmets with face-masks are supplied. Personal helmets may be used but must have a face-mask for safety. All bats must have a USABat stamp or sticker.
Season
- Program runs approximately April 1st through late-June.
- Player evaluations/draft in mid-March
- 10-12 Games with additional practices and playoffs.
- Games/practices are held 2-3 times per week.
- Weekday events are scheduled for 6pm or later. Weekend event times vary.
MLBA Minor Commissioners: TBD
The MLBA relies on volunteer parents for almost all of the functions and operations of the leagues and we are very grateful for the time and effort that so many people contribute. Even if you cannot make all of the games or practices we encourage you to offer whatever assistance you can to the team managers.
