PINTO DIVISION (8U)
Ages 8 or younger by August 31st of the current year OR currently enrolled in 1st/2nd Grade.
Purpose
The Pinto division is instructional and designed to introduce the sport, teach the basics, and promote the growth of baseball for players of all ability levels. Teams are comprised of players from the same Elementary school so players can participate with their schoolmates.
Format
Pinto is our coach pitch division. A hitting "T" may be used to promote player development and confidence, as needed. Coaches pitch to the players, no stealing or bunting, no playoffs or All Star teams. There is a Pinto tournament towards the end of the season.
Equipment / Uniform
- A softer "safety" baseball is used to minimize the chance of injury.
- Each player receives a jersey and hat. Baseball pants and rubber/molded plastic cleats are recommended.
- Players should have their own baseball glove.
- Batting helmets w/ face-masks are supplied. Personal helmets may be used but must have a face-mask for safety. All bats must have a USABat stamp or sticker.
Season
- Program runs approximately April 1st thru late-June.
- 10-12 Games with additional practices.
- Games/practices are held 2-3 times per week.
- Weekday events are scheduled for 6pm or later. Weekend event times vary.
MLBA Pinto Commissioners: TBD
The MLBA relies on volunteer parents for almost all of the functions and operations of the leagues and we are very grateful for the time and effort that so many people contribute. Even if you cannot make all of the games or practices we encourage you to offer whatever assistance you can to the team managers.
