Lebo Prime Baseball

The purpose of the Lebo Prime program is to:

  • PRIME the player's interest in the sport of baseball.
  • PRIME players to become lifelong athletes.
  • Serve as the PRIME introduction to sports, free from negative experiences and pressure.
  • Develop players and coaches who are the PRIME examples of sportsmanship, effort, and play.
  • Develop the PRIME baseball player in each athlete.

Overview

Lebo Prime Baseball is the competitive and player/coach development division of the Mt. Lebanon Baseball Association (MLBA). Lebo Prime exists as an extension of MLBA and complements MLBA programming. Lebo Prime is not considered a substitute to participating in the MLBA Regular Season.

Mission:

The Lebo Prime program's goal is to provide the youth of Mt. Lebanon - who love the game of baseball - a year-round or multi-season, competitive baseball environment as a complement or alternative to AAU/Select/Club baseball.  Lebo Prime Baseball is committed to promoting the game of baseball while preparing players for competitive play by focusing on skill and character development and emphasizing fundamentals, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Vision:

As a division of MLBA, Lebo Prime Baseball will field teams in the 7U through 14U age divisions, and these teams will represent the MLBA and Mt. Lebanon in local community tournaments, leagues, and PONY World Series qualifying tournaments. Players who are invited to join Lebo Prime teams will be required to participate fully in the MLBA Spring Regular Season practices and games and comply with the standards and expectations set forth by MLBA and Lebo Prime Baseball.

The Lebo Prime Baseball program provides players who have demonstrated the requisite skill and desire an opportunity to compete against players of similar skill levels from other communities.  "Travel" baseball is more competitive and has a greater emphasis on winning than recreational or in-house baseball. This is evident in the following ways:

  • Greater expectations on the players in terms of effort, concentration, and commitment.
  • Players may play fewer positions.
  • Coaches will place players in positions best suited for the success of the team.
  • Players will take on different roles within the framework of the team.
  • Players will learn that every role is essential for the success of the team.
  • There is no minimum playing time requirement.
  •  The coaching staff is responsible for making all playing decisions within the framework of the goals of Lebo Prime Baseball at each age group and skill level.

MLBA Regular Season practices and games should be considered a priority over Lebo Prime activities.

Player Eligibility

Teams are designated by age level (7U through 14U)
